Dinner with my colleagues as a finale to our Canberra trip
The food was amazing! The vegetable courses and sides were the highlight, especially the cabbage and the Brussels sprouts. Australia’s fresh vegetables were taken to a whole new level
The beef tongue was so tender yet nicely charred
I highly recommend this

Popped in without a booking on a Saturday night before the movies. Fully booked of course, but we were allowed to sit at the bar (overlooking the kitchen)
Had half a dozen dishes including Prawns (with bay leaf butter), quail (with shrimp samba) cauliflower (with ricotta salata ), blue mackerel
All great and served promptly and friendly, highly recommended

I really enjoyed my experience at Rebel Rebel! The food was amazing and highlights included cured bonito, grilled prawns, confit duck and rhubarb clafoutis. The service was also really good, I really appreciated the way dishes were paced appropriately so the experience didn’t feel rushed.

Overall a fantastic experience. The food is simply awesome fresh and well curated. The atmosphere is fantastic and was pleased with the overall meal: the only disappointment is the wine list: it needs to have a better selection and well balanced with local offerings from more Australian region. Felt it was overpriced and still failed to deliver excellence. Our only option for a full body red was $180++ and was not a full body. Or offer a byo option so we can enjoy the beautiful food with the wine of choice:
The server was great and attentive. Sorry we forgot her name.

The steak tartare and prawn were the standout dishes from the dishes I ordered when dining solo and I would return for these dishes alone. After having read reviews, I also ordered the Brussel sprouts but did not like them, the spice took away from the delicious flavour of the vegetable. The service I received from the female server was unexpectedly abrupt and slightly unfriendly, however I observed her having a lengthy and rather loud conversation with a couple dining close to my table who appeared to be locals. Not a great look.

Rebel Rebel is a restaurant that has always offered interesting, pleasant surprises. This was the first place I discovered – many years ago – that peaches weren’t only for dessert. How I ended up here this time was a surprise. I’d been at the cinema and was ready for good food.
Each dish was strikingly different and full of flavour. It’s very much a shared plate style of restaurant which worked very well. While we ordered we nibbled on charred sourdough with bagna cauda – I’ve read about the famous dip, flavoured with garlic and anchovies, but never had it before, so I had to try it.
Then we had zucchini flowers which were the most tempura-like I’d ever had – light, almost translucent, delicious. Next up was seasonal asparagus, cooked to perfection, served with bottarga – salted, cured fish roe – and gribiche – a classic French cold sauce made with egg yolks, mustard and oil – and it proved once again that if something is in season, it’s like a Christmas present.
We finished with an enormous spiced pork chop, juicy and full of flavour from a sticky dark burnt honey sauce, served with kohlrabi. I had a couple of fine glasses of red wine to accompany the food (though I was tempted by the look of the Savagnin from Gippsland) – a Gentle Folk ‘Vin de Sofa’ from the Adelaide Hills, with an unusual mix of Sangiovese, Pinot and Gamay, and then an award-winning Mada ‘Poachers’ Shiraz from Murrumbateman just up the road.
It was a quick meal after the pictures, but thoroughly enjoyable and a great way to round off the evening.

Loved the whole experience. It was great and the servers were friendly and the margaritas were spectacular! Amazing food and I forgot to take a photo of the steak but it was YUM! 😋
The Tuna with curry leaves and tamarind sauce(?) was my absolute favourite and I wish I could go back. However, I live in Melbourne and this was one of my biggest Canberra highlights! 💝

We had the set dinner at this place and every course was absolutely delicious. As a meat lover, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the vegetarian option as well — full of flavour and beautifully presented. A wonderful dining experience from start to finish. More

Cold and rude staff. Just as described by someone in the comments 'asking a question about the menu is deemed, by the staff, to be a huge inconvenience'. We were told that the place was overbooked and we had under an hour to dine, so we ask to move tables - after this, we received inappropriate comments about ordering too little, an inconsiderate reply about a request for an extra plate and money almost thrown at us at the end of the bill.
The food was good - beef tartare and the nectarine & tomato entrees were unique and refreshing!

My wife and I had an incredible experience at Rebel Rebel. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality and service were top-notch; warm, attentive, and very professional. The restaurant has a fantastic vibe that makes it the perfect spot for a date night.
Now, let's talk about the food. Everything we tried was tremendous! The flavors were packed, the textures were spot on, and the umami was perfectly balanced. We were especially struck by how generous the portions were. We usually share about four medium dishes when we eat out in Melbourne, but here, we happily dropped our order down to two to ensure we had room for dessert! (Thank goodness we didn't order that steak, too!)
Overall, this is a must-visit in Canberra for truly tremendous food. Highly recommended!

This is a fabulous local feeling restaurant with a short but sharp sharing menu packed with delicious, fresh, flavour filled dishes.
It’s expensive for what it is, particularly for Canberra as serving sizes are small and there are not a lot of protein options, so you end up ordering a lot. Most smaller dishes are $28 or more.
A diverse and global wine list features big French reds, light Adelaide hills whites and everything in between. Glasses of wine are on the smaller side and $20 a glass, but good and interesting options. Cocktails are fabulous at $25 each.
The tuna entree was amazingly flavour filled, pork on the bone was a highlight, as was the oversized caramel dessert.

We ordered three dishes: the fried quail, the mackerel, and the pork chops. They look not bad and smells nice, but the taste is another thing. The taste of the quail and the fish is poorly balanced, the former too bland while the latter too salty. The pork is good and fresh when you start eating. Yet you can’t eat much of it because of the greasy fat. Though it was roasted and the fat is supposed to be crispy, it actually is soft and spring. Not enough fire temperature or roasting time I guess. Fortunately, the waitress is very friendly to us and the atmosphere is pleasant. They should not be blamed.

We stopped by for dessert and were not disappointed. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and recommended dishes to us according to our taste. The place is cozy and warm. They have a variety of wine to offer as well. I’d visit again and mainly because of their staff! They were very welcoming and warm. We ended up ordering the caramel flan and the lemon cake. If you like burnt caramel, you’d love the caramel flan. The lemon cake was delicious and had lemon pieces cooked to perfection. Overall the place is a nice place to chill with friends and enjoy good food.
